I just saw on the news that bill gates is the richest person in the world at 75 billion,
And if some poor home less guy standing out side a star bucks and asks him for change
Gates would walk right by him

I hate this kind of baseless libel. Over their lifetimes, Bill and Melinda Gates have given away have given out $30.2 billion, about 37 percent of their net worth. The couple coordinate their efforts through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which works with other people to donate money and resources on trying to solve a select number of global problems and concerns. Malcolm Forbes said,""Mr. and Mrs. Microsoft continue to combat malaria, polio and other diseases abroad while working to reform education in the U.S. Major donations went to the World Health Organization, the Medicines for Malaria Venture and the U.S. fund for UNICEF,"
Bill and Melinda donate almost 3 billion dollars/year just through the foundation, seeking cures and solutions to real world diseases and problems. Bill is tireless in his pursuit of better education outcomes for American kids and ending disease and poverty. He also directly provides good paying jobs with top benefits to about 120,000 folks here on the West coast and of course that isn't counting all of the ancillary jobs his business creates. Not bad for a university dropout.

“I’m certainly well taken care of in terms of food and clothes,” he says, redundantly. “Money has no utility to me beyond a certain point. Its utility is entirely in building an organisation and getting the resources out to the poorest in the world.”
Don't poop on someone who gives at such a high level.

I spent six years in the Microsoft MVP program. I got to spend some quality time at the Redmond campus. I don't have much good to say about the way the company was run. It got even worse after he left. The lawyers and marketers have way too much power. I will say that I have heard Bill Gates speak at employee events both before and after he left the job. I do not doubt his integrity or his principles. He is committed to making the world a better place. He is a ruthless business man. At the same time he respects people. He listens, even welcomes it, when people criticize him. I don't like the company, especially since he left. The man is one of the greatest philanthropists the world has seen.

"It must be true.
It was on the news."

C'mon Tazz, are you kidding me here?

This guy has given away more money that it would cost to build 2
aircraft carriers to reform education and to fund disease research,
not to mention all kinds of other good works and you're in here
quoting Fox News or wherever you saw this stupidity?

What's next? The "There were no actual airplanes on
September 11th. They were holographic projections" story?

Remember "JFK is alive and living in a __________ in ______!" accompanied by a photo of the aged President in a wheel chair?

Im just saying yes he gives millions away as a tax write off but i sure he will walk past any homeless guy asking for coffee

A 30 billion tax write-off? Weeeell... And why do you think he doesn't care? Just because he's rich doesn't mean he has no compassion.

One of the richest guys in my city, Trond Mohn (he's one of Norway's richest for that matter), gives away millions each year. And he pays his taxes gladly. Most of his donations go to different sports clubs for children, but lots of other cultural activities also benefit from his generosity.

We need more of the world's rich guys to be like Bill Gates.

..and how are you sure of this?
Have you personally seen him do it?
Did you see film of it on "the news"?

..or do you just have a personal gripe with him because he's the
richest guy in the world and you hate that because of no other
reason than the fact that you've got nothing better to do with
your time but say bad things about him on some internet forum?

He gives away much more than "millions" and much more than can be justified by the tax advantages. He has initiated the movement among the fabulously wealthy to give away something like 99% of his wealth during his lifetime, rather than leave it to his heirs.
