6 Screw Vintage to Floyd Rose - Who Has Done It???

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm kinda on the fence. The different guitar with Floyd is a good idea too.

I use my old Squirecaster for tremolo stuff all the time actually. In the studio, its no big deal if you don't return to pitch after a dive bomb....live is a different story.

Nice weber man -- should be easy to trade for a Jackson or Ibanez in Cali ;)

Though I am not sure which angle (in degrees) would be a good starting point for a flush mount Floyd??? Stewie-Mac suggest 1° for a Floyd flush mount....
 
If you go for the Gotoh GE1996T it includes pretty much everything you need, including a brass block (you need to take some care in working out which size you need), claw, springs, studs, inserts. The inserts and studs are larger than those on an OFR
 
Spent a bit of time yesterday playing Floyd equipped guitars at Guitar Sinner. Broke a lot of strings too - always right at the saddle. I discovered that I do not like a floating tremolo. For example, the bends in 'Hotel California' are super difficult to execute with the deflection of the return springs. Also, unison bends, such as occur in the solo of Tesla's 'Love Song' are super difficult to achieve with a 'floater.'

Also, breaking a strings totally shut me down immediately. I can't afford that...Literally.

I do like the ergonomics of the fine tuners and the feel of the bridge when in use. I simply prefer the Floyd decks and dead-level with a minimum of 4 springs, so that none of my bends bring the bridge off the body.

The Floyd with a roller nut - I think - is superior even to the locking nut.

I've done repeated dives until the strings go slack and rattle, and then re-check each return to pitch with a tuner.

I'm not a fan of Floyd-Rose You break a string on stage it's done for that show. I set one up last week and thought back when
I played Kramer's and Jackson's then switched to early PRS custom 24 then the Parker I never had string braking on PRS or the Parker.
