Met Carlos many years ago (the guitarist) and we have kept in touch periodically. He sent me this video last night. His band 'Damaged Goods,' works 6 nights a week.
I admire the fact that they are able to sustain a full-time gig doing something they obviously love, but for me the mere idea of being in a cover band, regurgitating the cheese-metal hits of the 1980's, is enough to make me want to sell my gear and open a State Farm franchise.
I can certainly respect that.
I love covers and each time I play one, it takes me back in time to a much happier place....so it's a different kind of attraction for me.
The last time I was in a cover band was back in 1996-97...I realized at some point during that stint that playing covers was literally sucking the joy of playing guitar out of me, and vowed to never do it again. I have plenty of buddies that still do the cover circuit and enjoy the hell out of it like you, and I give you guys all the respect in the world for doing it, but I just can't ever again.
