...this one was played on stage and in the studio by Brooks Young! His band "The Brooks Young Band" has played with some of the greats! Check this out;

THIS --- I am thinking THIS is the secret to TONE-- the Strat I stumbled on and LOVE has 5 springs and a FAT trem block ----- I trully think that is a tone changer

That is a damn fine question seeing as how I've never seen a Strat Neck break! I'll have to ask the dood...

I think some people part the Strats out to get more money. I see a body go for $600 and then a neck for $600??? Who knows, but I have found some sweet low $ body deals and I have a neck
source from Korea for those nice necks I believe. I have a sample coming in Tuesday and it was $135 shipped DHL.
 
Found out this is a 2000 Fender Deluxe Players Strat MIM. It was also known as a Fender Deluxe Super Strat due to a set of hot rodded pickups in some models around 1998 - 2002? It was not a "Super" Strat by today's standards, but was called that by Fender for a short period. The pickups were Super Fat "Super" Strat single-coil pickups. As I said above, the pickups in this one are custom wound...

Hmmmm... I have heard claims of improved tone...I shield the back of mine and tie it into the ground circuit....

Generally, the covers get removed to facilitate string changes and trem claw adjustments. Even with the slots in the trem cover, sometimes they don't line up with the holes in the trem block, depending on the string gauge you're using. So, you have to work the trem bar to get the holes to line up.

I had my cover off for awhile on my Strat and never knew it. I had made some trem adjustments and got preoccupied with something else and forgot to put it back on. I didn't realize it until I went to put it on a stand during an event and noticed the cover was missing. I almost didn't put it back on because I thought it looked kind of cool.

I have heard that lots of performing musicians remove the cover because it can be a source of static if not shielded as Robert has stated above. Virtually no strat has the trem cover shielded and grounded. They are certainly not shielded by Fender.
The plastic used to make the covers (and pickguards too) is very susceptible to static build up, depending on what type of fabric you are wearing, and this can cause noise issues. This is particularly evident in a guitar that is not optimally shielded and grounded.
Just an FYI from what I have been told. I have experienced static issues in the past due to a poorly shielded pickguard.
