50th Anniversary Deluxe Fender Precision Bass

Ray, who is Tony S?

WHAT is it? I see it says Precision, but it looks active and with a Humbucker in the bridge and 4 knobs?

I just noticed that the nut for the E string is offset, but that it is properly spaces on the FB. Is that normal?

Tony is a friend of mine from a prior forum I was on, and who then became my in-person friend. He is a member here and has posted a few times.

Ray, I noticed I asked "What is it?" but I see the title says 50th Anniv. I am guessing it is the 2001 version. I guess I didn't know they had 2 pups n 4 controls.
I will hunt details on these. Did Tony have this bass modified?

Also Ray, I wonder if the Low E tuning machine also could not have been drilled a little higher up toward the edge of the headstock as the spacing of the nut spaces seem evenly done and as you say, the alignment of the string down the neck lines up evenly. See how Bastard stated the same thing while I was being long winded?

That last P bass headstock with Blue string ends sure looks narrow for a P.

Also, the headstock contour looks smaller on Tony's Bass than the others thereby when the tuner is done like in a pattern man drilled or programmed machine drilled fashion it lands where it does and not oriented to give a straight alignment with the nut slot.

Another thing about Tony's E string is it does not look tightly wound around the post which would also ever so slightly move it upward closer to lining up. Also looked at my Steve Harris P bass. My E string is not straight either but turns inward from nut to tuner by only 1/16 inch. I is not nearly as inward as Tony's.

These are not as pronounced as Tony's but still same inward position.

And a Jazz like Tony's angle

I'd say it seems like a guitar by guitar build scenario on how heads were shaped and tuner orientation performed.
