So Anyway...

So, anyway I just scored Rolling Stones tix at Metlife (Giants stadium) for June 13.
Nose bleeders but its all good - around $250. each with the ridiculous fees and taxes they tack on.
Waited on line online for Ticketmaster at 10:00 same seat area was $450. yikes.
You watch the big screens mostly anyway if you are not pretty close..

I'm really STOKED!!!
Cant wait.

I gave up trying to see the Stones way back in the 80's. Once Bonham died and I couldn't see Zep before they ended without him, so I obviously had no interest in a Zepscimile band. I thought the Stones were fading past their prime too, so I never wanted to over pay for lesser quality shows.

We decided this is one we just wanted to see them once live, even if they all get rolled out in wheelchairs.
Was planning to see both Zep and Bon AC/DC next time around in 1980, but yeah F*ck.

So weird , both had bon in their names, both alcohol poisoning same year.
Devil come for his due.

So anyway, I'm going to build this 1/4 power soak as a speaker cable with the 8Ω resistor circuit in a small pedal enclosure.
It will be "always on" instead of a switch.
IN my typical redneck DIY fashion, I will use 12ga speaker wire I have on hand.
Waiting on resistors.

Jt, as I age past what was my teens and early 20's when Bon, Bonzo,Moon, Rory, etc all died and understand better the skill it takes to perform like pro bands do at their rise and into their prime. I also added to my musical styles and variations of performers I enjoy. To read my first post may lead one to think I only liked young people performing live. However, I have seen, enjoyed and appreciated concerts from Rush, Southside Johnny, UFO, Molly Hatchet, Michael Schenker, Joe Cocker, Dio, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Steve Miller, Styx, Nugent and a number of other bands later in their careers. None disappointed. I am sure the Stones will do likewise.

It's not just here, it seems endemic of all guitar-related sites for some reason, but It really seems we are all living in the past. Yes, the music we listened to when we were young was great, but it didn't end there. There is amazing music being made right now! Today! Music just as good as what we listened to as kids. But, looking through threads on guitar sites you'd almost never know it. Sad really, and somehow sadly ironic since you'd think musicians would be the first to get excited about new music and promote it. But look around these threads - there generally isn't anything posted that's less than 25 years old.

Greg Allman was supposed to be the opener for ZZ Top here a couple of years ago, when his health started failing and he cancelled.
Govt Mule was playing the Stone Pony the same week; I was hoping Warren Haynes would pop in and play with them that night.
One of the fill ins was Foghat; they were great and is part of what my current interest in Savoy Brown started from.

@gball, you posted as I was typing, so true I am mostly stuck back then, but I am also listening to more of the discography of bands I like but dont know much of / or their whole catalog. In that sense I am discovering new old music.
I LOVE the live UFO record you ? I think, suggested Strangers in the Night.
It is in my commute deck right now.

"YOu look a bit confused out there. Its your licensing laws" lol.

I could not watch this

That...is just a mess. Yuk. Keef and Ronnie sound like they can't hear themselves.

They should have hung it up looong ago. I saw the Steel Wheels tour in like 1989 and they were already so far past their prime that I knew I would never be interested in seeing them again,. and that was a terrible album. They haven't recorded a relevant piece of new music since the early '80's, just need to fade away.

Yeah, that was me, and of course going back and listening to the bits you missed along the way is a great experience. I was just speaking generally that what seems to get posted and talked about 90+ percent of the time around here and other forums is the same old same old we've been listening to for 30/40 years. Just look above on this page alone - Beatles, BTO, Stones, Triumph, Loverboy, Healey, Nova. I don't mean to sound dickish but when the most current thing in a list is from a guy that last recorded in 2000 and died in 2008, it seems like a lot of looking in the rearview.

That is true to some degree, gball. Although, I post a bunch of older performances, I also appreciate newer stuff n will post all types I like and enjoy. Stuff from Classic oldies on up to grunge, punk, dgent etc

I'm more into this My friend Grayton owns Guytron amps and the founder of 18watt.com brilliant mind I had a new amp design and we went back and
forth on it I did it my way but got the chassis and transformers from him Now I have played that amp solid for 3 years.

Yeah, I post old stuff to0, and I don't mean to imply that no-one ever posts up newer music, but I do think the guitar-playing community as a whole is kind of stuck in the past a bit (present company included - I was listening to Screaming For Vengeance on the way into work this morning).

Time flies too. It's still hard to believe I saw Chilipeppers, Live, Moby, Tantric, STP, Fuel, Incubus, Deftones, and a bunch of others was now almost 19 years ago already.
