11/29/2018 Rehearsal - Blue on Black - Audacity Soundbyte

Ok,

I remixed the track, with the existing vocals, added more guitar tracks, and improvised a solo at 1:27, so this is more like what I hear in my head. This entire clip is only 1:53 long. I think the biggest problem is my country-esque vocals.

This is excellent I believe. Very tasty indeed. When is your EP going to be released?

Thank you, Chas...

Well, I never gave that any real thought, I just like making songs here at home that I enjoy playing, but this new music project has their sights set on a CD, so maybe this will get included in that????

I have loved that song since my first time hearing it. I liked your version Robert, but I was hoping to hear the guitar solo.

OK. I read further in the thread and just listened to the updated track with lead guitar solo. Nice work Robert.

Thanks, Wavy!!!

i'm gonna piece it together some more and come up with a finished song. My goal is heavier than KWS, but not as heavy as 5FDP...

Robert, country is pretty much ingrained into your DNA, so I would say to embrace it and make it work to your strengths.

My Son asked me to do an acoustic only version for him. I re-recorded the vocals today and sang my own harmony parts. This is rough. All vocals were done in a single take, so it is what it is, good or bad.

I will eventually add the other guitars and the solos to this version. I personally don't like my voice. I feel like it's got this horrible Southern twang, but it's what I got, so there it is... :-)

Another nice rendition Robert.

Ya need the echo on

You....you...you...turned, and you ran

Exactly....the entire process was really rushed today, but I wanted to kick out that copy to my Son, then work on the details later. I'm not happy with the vocals either, so I will re-sing them in the future. The echo/delay feature in my SAW is tricky to get the pre-sets right....will take some time!!!

Could you guys have a listen to the newest link above and just tell me yiur feeling on the "hot" rhythm during the chorus as to how it is mixed???

Robert, you got the acoustic guitar part down rock solid ! The voice delay is really good and the dirty rhythm has a nice texture to it. The solo is melodically great but the original song just screams Strat tone. Don’t take that as a bad comment, just an observation. Just depends on what you are trying to achieve, hence the honest feedback.

I’ve been singing this song in my head for the last few days following you on this adventure...

Thanks for the input, Don! I actually like KWS's Stratocaster tone in the first few parts of the song. It's really awesome. I'm not sure we will do the song live, but I definitely plan on finishing this up, if for no other resaon, but to say I did it and kinda made it my own thing...

It's really hard to get the delay set right. The delay feature in Audacity is infinitely adjustable, so it takes some time to get right...

The “you” part actually has two echos, can the software do that?

On the original??? Yes, in Audacity, you can use delay and echo both, and I have experimented with both. This recording looks like a patchwork quilt now... :-)
