John Entwistle's Isolated Bass...

Some friends of mine met John Entwistle in a hotel bar after a the Who concert in Oslo some years back. He was very friendly, and they ended up talking with him for a few hours. One of the guys asked him why they didn't play "My Wife" (which is written and sung by Entwistle) as part of their set. He smiled and answered: "She's with me on this tour, so she would kill me if we did."

And now fot the real answer...Pete.

I wonder who would win as the biggest band tyrant, Pete Townsend, Mick Jagger, Glenn Frey or Roger Waters?

We all know John as one of the top bass players of all time and this video shows his true talents on bass guitar. He played it like a lead instrument.

Not only that, he played and complimented Moon seamlessly, and he also reportedly had a tremendous synergy with Pete Townshend where he could follow or anticipate where Pete was headed without much thought or effort. These 2 skills were invaluable in the success if The Who. Pete also tells how John could replicate his licks instantly as soon as he heard Pete play something. As explained at 11:40
