I just ordered eight 6p18p-ev tubes. Been wanting to try them for years. They are supposed to be a warm sounding el-84 equivalent tube. Will find out soon. I was going to buy a quad of electro-voice EH's or Mullards, then I ran across these for about 53 bucks to the door. See what happens...

Edit - I ordered 6p14p-ev tubes, the 6p18p-ev above is incorrect...

not familiar with 6p18p-ev.
I am using 6p14p-ev in my 18w; they are said to be an el84 type that can take plate voltages around 300-320v, up to 350v I think.

Sound good and lasting so far.

Think I will fire up the 18w later; I have been on the Silkyn since I put the OEM power tubes back in an biased it.
 
Oops, I did a typo booboo - it's supposed to be 6p14p-ev. My bad. I double checked to make sure I didn't pull a stupid human trick. I ordered eight 6p14p-ev's. When I was searching the el84's on eBay the 6p18p's kept showing up, which lead to me to do a quick search on them, and I guess that must have stuck in the ole brain cells.

Maybe someone with super TTR powers can change the title of this thread from "6p18p-ev tubes" to "6p14p-ev tubes" ???

I think they are just rebranded Sovtek. They were made in the 1960'S for Russian ICBM'S the glass is thicker and shock resistant plus can take 450 volts.
I had a box of 50 they went fast but the amps I have that take them have a few thousand hours on them most new production EL84'S won't hold up to that.
I try to spec my EL84 builds to 280 VDC. $20.00 each now I paid $2.71 each

Hey, Plexi... I was given some Ken-Rad Pewter Plate T12AX7's and they are supposed to be a real desirable tube - or that is what I was told. What's the skinny on them????
