The amp needed a little TLC, but it is sounding great at the moment. I suppose it could use a new set of tube sockets, a matched quad of tubes, and a re-cap - but, hey, all is running well as is, so I'm not going to rush it type thing...

Very nice score!
Have you worked on one before?
They’re notorious for being a little fiddlie under the hood...much the same as their classic 30 siblings.
I haven’t had the opportunity to work on a Delta Blues, but I have successfully worked on a couple of Classic 30s now. (Just to change out a couple of caps, and stuff)
They’re really nice amps when they’re running right!
Congrats!

Nice!
I have no lluck with those spring type tube retainers; seems they get bent out of shape easily and hard to get them righteous again.

Ya, this one was missing one of the retainers. I had one on hand that is working - the top of it is a little bent out of shape. I'll straighten out later after it gets done cooking on the bench for a few hours.

Thanks...

Ya, they use circuit boards (not a real fan), but it's not to bad really - as long as you make sure to prep properly - you can just kind of compress them a bit to pull them out. Just gotta try and not stress out the joints too much and double check them before reinstalling. I've already replaced a bad resistor in the power section and re-flowed a bunch of solder joints. A bunch of the tube socket solder points were loose/cracked. But, after that she seems just fine. If I keep it I will be pulling it back apart to replace all the tube sockets, re-cap it, and slap in a matched quad of tubes - sooner or later. I try to save any USA Peavey amp I come across - as a put it, another piece of Peavey USA musical history save ;)

Is it the same “U” shaped, 3 piece, circuit board as the Classic 30 pretty much?
Like I said, I haven’t opened up one of the Delta Blues before...so, just curious, and too lazy to search :D.

Nice amp. I had the 1x15 version of this for a while when I was helping out a buddy with a blues-ey thing he was doing. It brought some righteous tone.

Ya, it's pretty much the same setup/idea. The Delta actually comes apart pretty easy. When working on the boards I just kind of prop them open with a wooden dowel so the they don't bend back and forth to much and cause issues. I use a hotter than normal soldering iron for quick on/off. It's the opposite most say to do, but the quick heat (for me) seems to cause less damage damage and less chance of cold solders. Another USA Peavey Lives !!!
