So what’s this hole for...

Ok, remember this is a music forum and I’m not talking about a f-hole. Had a rattled on one of my strats and it was obvious it was behind the neck plate. I removed the screws and found this slug had backed out. Just what is this used for since there is an adjustment hole in the neck plate, I just never knew there was some kind of adjustment lurking below.

I forget their name for it, but Peavey did it too...mid 80s through early 90s.
My 83/84 Strat has it too.

It was intended to adjust neck angle in small increments...instead of using shims.
