New Server Check In

HA HA HA!!!! The main entry page was messing with me not displaying the green security lock. I was pulling what little hair out of my head trying to figure out why the whole site was secure except the main entry page. The reason was because of the Musiclily banner was uploaded on the non-secure server and the code was looking for http:// not https:// preventing the page from being secure. I gotta make a tweek to the code so we can keep our members and our advertisers secure. ;)

OK, that bug is dead. Although I try to keep a clean house, occasionally a big ugly cockroach crawls on to my plate. Some of y'all are bringing these dirty bugs in and I can't kill'em. What bugs you say? Dangerous bugs!!! These bugs prevent the green padlock from appearing in the URL at the top of the page. When there is a bug on the page, the green lock goes away. How do these bugs get here? When you post a hot link to an image from another page on another server and it's not a secure server, our new secure server software now running says "stop, you are not a secure image" and then the server takes off the secure badge.

Any image hot linked from a non-secure server will make the green lock on this site go away and replace it with a "not secure" label where the green lock should be.

Any image hot linked to another secure server might come through as safe.

Every page with an image uploaded here is a safe image. Now I know, now you know. Kill your bugs or live with them, it's up to y'all. I can live without a padlock on the page because I know it's a safe place to be.

I was looking through this thread and reading what I wrote and how I may have sounded like I was scolding y'all like you did something wrong. I'm sorry if I came off that way, no one here did anything wrong.

I did not know we would run into a security issue with images hosted somewhere else. I've done many secure sites, but always in a controlled environment where the server felt comfortable with the images, they are all hosted on the server. I learned something very valuable for any future security issues that may arise for any of my clients. So for me, this was a good learning experience.

I was trying to be funny with the cockroach on my plate. I was little tired after chasing bugs with the transfer, maybe I was going buggy. So I'm glad you all made it here. I'm glad we are on a newer, more powerful, more feature filled server where the hosting people I need to communicate with regarding the server are based here in the USA, keeping tech jobs at home (I know we have non USA dwelling members, no offense meant).

The best part was not one bit or byte of data was lost.

Thanks, Wav... :celebrate:

OK, I looked through the forum and found this page Gibson Announces New CEO
The image is hosted on a secure server so our green lock is still in place on this page

Yup, Gibson announces new CEO, Green lock, This thread, NO green lock.
WASSUP with that? Oh and I never even looked to see a secure page here or that other place before here as i almost never saw it be showing as secure. SO, I just lived with it that way.

Bah!!! I just got home from work and don't feel like chasing bugs!!!

Well, I'm kinda "digitally challenged" so don't know much what all this means, but, if I use the back door to get to TTR index page I see https://. If I use the new front door I see the green lock ps://, but then coming to this thread it's back to https://. Strange, very strange, but as I don't know what any of it means it's all good. I just have two TTR thingies on my phone now & both get me here, cool. Cheers
