Had a scare that made me evaluate life

I've had a sore on my scalp for a few years. My doctor diagnosed it as actinic keratosis caused by too much exposure to sun. Last summer it got way worse. It was openly weeping and very painful. A few weeks ago my doctor took a biopsy and sent it away. He told me it was nothing to worry about. It was just a precaution. Last week I got a phone call from his office telling me to come in and see him. I started reading about skin cancer and started getting worried. Got in to see him yesterday. It is skin cancer but it is 100% treatable. It is the least worrisome form called squamous cell carcinoma. I'm scheduled to see the doctor in their clinic who specializes in this next week to have it surgically removed. It turns out it really is nothing to worry about but it did make me rethink my priorities in life. I'm going to devote more time to what I enjoy, like playing my guitar, especially live. I may even look at joining a band. I haven't looked at this in the past because of time constraints. To play in a band as opposed to just jamming requires discipline and commitment but maybe it's time for me to quit being so busy with other things and commit the time.
 
Damned, Kerry! Good to know it's just something you'll treat and be ok!

These things really catch us off guard, eh? But be cool, brother. You'll be all right and yes, we all should spare some time to do the things we love like playing music, eating well, drinking responsibly and anything we like.

Let us know how the band project goes.
 
Hey KB... Very glad to know that your taking care of your situation properly. And your attitude to make the most out of it, is encouraging. Yes: Joining a band requires discipline and commitment as you say, but it can bring some stress too. So have fun with it... :fingersx:

Coincidentally, my old High-school buddy just had some Basal Cell Carcinoma removed from his noggin... All clear, all good... :yesway:

Kerry keep a positive attitude We are getting hammered with radiation if you go in the woods you will see the trees are getting burned. Plus the food is toxic and the fish are dying off.
I had cancer detoxified my body most of my close friends are gone now from cancer my father also. Do your own research. Cancer feeds on sugar you will have to change your diet
 
Glad it turned out favorably. A few years back I also had a thingy on my forehead that sounds about like what you had. Like you it was removed and all was good. No further treatment needed. Does kinda get your attention though.
 
I can relate with you Kerry. About 10 yrs ago I was diagnosed with Basil cell carcinoma. I can still remember when the Dr. told me I had cancer and told me I needed to get it removed right away. I was in shock I believe at that time. So she set me up at the hospital to have it removed a couple of days later. She removed it and she was right the biopsy came back and it was cancer. Since this ordeal I have had others appear and have had them removed, some have been pre cancerous as well. I needed to go to the specialist every 6 months, but now is reduced to a yearly checkup. This year had 2 pre cancerous lesions removed all is good. Just make sure to maintain your appts . Mostly all of my issues have been on my face due I am told from getting too much sun over the years. My Dr. continually tells me to wear a hat and a shirt and to keep lathered up with suntan cream, make sure you get the top of your ears and behind them as well. Basil cell carcinoma is one of the less invasive cancers, but don't let it fool you , it can do a lot of damage if not treated soon enough. I have always been a person who I believe I don't take life for granted, life is precious, anything can happen to anyone at any time. Take care and God speed to you.
 
I'm glad to hear that this is 100% treatable for you Kerry! I lost my mom to cancer in 2009, I lost my daughter to cancer in 2017 and lost my 2 best friends to cancer early this year. Mrs Wav has a thyroid nodule that is has been growing so she goes in for a biopsy twice a year. The doctor said this can turn into cancer at any time and this is one of the worst kinds of cancer.
 
Good to hear that everything is going to be okay, Kerry. I hope your treatment goes well and you recover quickly. It sounds like you have a great attitude and perspective on your life. Keep doing the right things for yourself and everything will happen as it should. Best of luck in all that you do.
