Telephone Scammers...

I've had several calls to my smart phone say the federal government is taking me to court for defrauding them. They said they represented the C.R.A. (Canada Revenue agency). The person said on my message that he was officer James Morrison. I was scared and thought it was real. But the guy had an East-Indian accent and how common is a name like James Morrison in India or where-ever he came from. Beware of these calls because I found out they are scams. They try to collect important information from you and they seem legit. The worst thing is that seniors are the easiest targets. Here's a video exposing one of these scammers.

Black, a couple years ago my girlfriend's youngest daughter called her to tell her she was scared in a similar fashion in that she got a call some guy saying he was from the IRS or something and that if she didn't come somewhere to pay him like $3000 or $6000 by later that day, he had her info and would come arrest her.

She told her mom she was on her way to the bank to get money. Anyway, my gf told her it was a scam and not to ever believe stuff like that over the phone.
Pretty sure the daughter was extremely relieved she didn't lose all that money.
 
You can't trust any phone call these days unless you know the number. We use an answering machine to screen all calls. On my cell, I get calls listed as Scam Likely. The government has so much high tech crap, and they can't stop these assults?
 
A ton of scammers nowadays. I sold a boat on craigslist and got a scammer that said he was out of town and really wanted to buy my boat and told me to email his secretary my bank account number and he would have his secretary deposit the money and he would pick up the boat at the end of the month. I told him just send me his secretary and I would take it out on trade.....(y)

go online (in the U.S.) and try and get a price quote for private health insurance------I did that 3 days ago I am still getting (not exaggerating) 36 calls/texts a DAY form solicitors----


now tell me insurance isn't a rip off--- for them to try THAT DAMN HARD to get me signed up---- I have never had any other single industry be so blatantly aggressive like vultures on a dead animal carcass......
 
oh and the ones I get (insurance or otherwise) that I answer and the guy claims he is "Bob-- or Tom -- or Richard" -- but is OBVIOUSLY a Akhmed or Abdual ---that is the first thing I say---
"NO, tell me your REAL name -- lets not start this OFF with a lie--- those come later---and IF you tell me your REAL name-- then I wont hang up on"......click........and they hang up----

I’ve got a 1970 El Camino up for sale and have had many of these scams. The first 2 I was polite with and responded with I only accept direct wire transfers to my bank. One was for a surprise for his wife another was a BD present for a cousin, going out of town, blah, blah. So for the third one I responded:

Thanks for looking. Your brother is really gonna like this El Camino! But I’d like to save on the PayPal fees. I travel almost every week for my job at the fraud bureau of the LA FBI. Send me your info and I can plan a trip there early next week; we can meet at your bank and do a cash withdraw and I’ll sign over the title. I’ll split the PP savings with ya, it’s a win-win. Let me know ASAP so I can book a flight.

It's a good thing they found out it was a scam or they would have been in the poor house. Well it's good that you're confirming this scam because when I first got the message my blood pressure went up pretty high. I talked to my sister-in-law and she reassured me that it was just a scam and that she got a call like that. Besides the tax department would send you a letter first if you owed money and I didn't get no letter. I think the scam is coming from the U.S. because I didn't recognize the area code. There were scams before when people had landlines but these days mostly everyone has a cell or smartphone and I think landlines are starting to become extinct. These scammers are now collecting cell phone numbers instead by the looks of it.
