High-pass filter? Now I'm really confused!

High Pass means that the high frequencies are allowed through while the low frequencies are blocked.
The famous "Treble Boost" guitar pedal didn't boost the treble. All it did was suppress the low frequencies. It was basically an adjustable High Pass Filter.
