Knock the gloss off my neck..I dare you!

Should I? Would you? Although I have modded every guitar I own, they have all been reversable, except for the cavity route on my Goldtop re-issue to make the pups adjustable (but that is an entirely other topic). I have been playing my PRS Studio all day, which is a FANTASTIC guitar except for a rather sticky neck finish. So...should I throw re-sale value and possibly a touch of beauty to the wind and knock the gloss off the neck a bit with some 600 grit?

well of COURSE I will say yes---
1. its YOUR GUITAR
2. Resale is what someone is willing to PAY-- they might LIKE that finish and pay MORE since you did the WORK --
3. Hows that work exactly-- the Jackson Soloist has said "sticky" heavy lacquer varnish neck coat --- its ONLY flaw.......
Id like to remove it make it more like the Deans NATURAL WOOD finish SO I can play 3 notes a minute instead of 2!!!

I would use 1000 grit first and work down to the 600 if needed

Just take off where you need to and lightly sand. Chas has a good idea to start high and go low, but I hav done thiis many times before and know what feels right for me. I have only done it on $ 300 guitars though, not core PRS!

Ive took green Scotch Brite to all the back of the necks of my guitars.
interesting
green.......scotch you say?
