Question: Gibson Pickups

I am running A5 neck / A2 bridge P90's and I like it.

Swapping the magnets is easy but may be awkward the first go, as with any new task or skill.

I was thinking about putting an A5 in the neck of my Agile (the stock ceramics were replaced with A2)
This was after a less than inspiring session on Fender Tweed circuit.
Then the next time I played it was on 18w TMB circuit, I was / am happy with it.

I changed out 1 only-- and it made a big difference-- is it the EXACT Petie Green tone....er no -- but its close -- its Peter-ish........uhm....

anyway --

there ya go ...was that the question?

Currently my middle position (both pickups) sounds quite weak. Anemic is the word I would choose! Volume, power and tone is fine when selecting either pickup on it's own.
I will definitely be swapping the magnet around when my new harness arrives.

Check magnet polarity with a compass and report back first....

The BB's I have had a noticeable volume drop in the middle position in both my SG & LP, not "weak" or "anaemic", but definitely a noticeably reduced output, but this is to be expected with the out of phase condition due to signal cancellation. Cheers

I've heard it really only works when using both pickups. When using one, or the other, it isn't really noticeable.
Yes, with just one pickup being used (either bridge or neck), the output is exactly the same regardless of the polar orientation of the magnet. Also either pickup can have the magnet flipped to cause the "middle position" phase cancellation effect. Cheers

Robert, I don't have a way to record clips. However, I just don't seem to get the same kind of thump and grind out of the BB Pro 2 in the bridge of this LP Studio that I get out of my Warmoth LP with Seymour Duncan Slash p'ups or even my SG Standard with a 498T. Even my Chibson with '57 Classics sounds better to me.
I have acquired a '57 Classic Plus that will go in when my new harness arrives. Since I really like the sound of the BB Pro 1 in the neck I will likely change that magnet back to stock orientation and install the '57 Classic Plus in the bridge.
I am hoping that will give me more of what I am looking for.

Sounds like a good plan. Remember Burstbucker's are low output pickups....
