AC/DC is in the studio in Canada. Rumor has it, the new recordings will include Malcolm Young playing rhythm guitar on ALL TRACKS!

Turns out, five years prior to the Black Ice LP, - AC/DC’s 15th studio release - Angus and Malcolm Young lived together where they literally wrote hundreds of songs, many were recorded and have been stashed away until now.

Angus has decided to select the best tracks from those recordings that Malcolm played on and is now back in the studio recording and mixing them with fellow band mates Phil Rudd, Cliff Williams and yes, Brian Johnson on vocals... :)

how so? when your dead the sharks dont care---as long as the monumental DOUCHE axle rose isnt involved Im for it.

sounds more like last ditch $ grab-- but hey --- Im looking forward to hearing the tunes
 
I suppose there could be some marketing angle in this...

...aw, who am I kidding...OF COURSE there's marketing in this!

But, AC/DC doesn't really need more publicity. They're still popular.

For now, I'm gonna take the (probably gullible) position that Angus is just trying to offer some tribute to Malcom.

I would think --- as long as them two where together and working and collaborating daily--- the loss to Angus personally must be like losing your right arm AND leg

This will immortalize Malcolm to the 33rd degree...not that he isn't already immortal, but he will earn a few more degrees nonetheless...

Hmmmm...I can certainly respect your opinion, but I think its great to publish these tracks from The Late Malcolm Young.
 
All that hype about Axl Rose being the new singer for AC/DC looks like it has blown away like a candle in the wind like Elton John would sing. Things change from day to day so you never know what to believe in the music industry these days.

Do you really believe a "new" AC/DC album has a hope of cracking that list?

Look, I have no problem with an older band/musician continuing to put out new music, provided that music is new, and they are evolving and giving us something we haven't heard before.
AC/DC isn't that band: They've been making the same record for damn near 40 years and repackaging it over and over. It was time to hang it up many moons ago, and to trot out the recordings of a dead member just to make the same record again (I will be the first to admit I am wrong if it is indeed something we have not heard before from them, but I'd be willing to put money down that it's just more of the same) seems cheap, particularly when it comes from a family member. This isn't the same as a posthumous release, this is taking unfinished music and finishing it without him present to put a final stamp on it and approve the content. It was gross when they did it with John Lennon and this idea doesn't come across any better IMO.
 
Personally, I have no dog in this race. I don’t own a single AC/DC album. Never saw a single concert. Rarely listen to any of their music. I can only name maybe ten songs. Don’t have the T-shirt.

But, even if the content is not very different from what they’ve done in the past, I don’t see what is so hard to accept about a guy just trying to share some of the stuff his late brother and he were working on.

Maybe he just figures the fan base would appreciate it, especially since there was such an outpouring of affection after Malcom died.

Is money a consideration? Sure. It always is. But, that doesn’t mean there aren’t also some deeper motivations for it.

Nope -- just pointing out SOME great music that was "in the can" was released -- iconic-- popular -- loved music -- AFTER the musician passed ...

at this juncture-- there is no reason to believe the AC/DC album will suck----Im guessing it wil sound just like every other AC/DC album -- if Malcolm and Angus wrote it --- Im not going to prepare for anything too IMAGINATIVE-- no symphonies-- or cantatas -- just heavy simple bass and drums -- screaming guitar and scratchy vocals--- and this--- will be good---
yep same AC/DC for the last 40 years---- and I been eating the same pepperoni pizza for damn near 50 years-- Its comforting-- I LIKE it-- I know how it tastes even BEFORE I buy it--- and that -- is good-- ;)
 
Cash grab? I don't know. If there is one thing Angus doesn't need, I guess it's more money. Of course I don't know his real reasons for releasing this album, but I'm pretty damn sure I would have done the same thing if I were in his situation. Angus and Malcolm played together in AC/DC from 1973 to 2014, that's 41 years, and they were tight. I bet Angus wants to hear the songs he created with his brother get finished in honor of Malcolm more than anything.

Will the album be great? Well, I guess it probably will be on par with "Stiff upper Lip", "Ballbreaker" or "Rock or Bust". Not one of the classic must-have Acca Dacca albums, but solid rock 'n' roll. I doubt I'll buy it (I don't have any of their albums post "Who Made Who" but everything before it for some reason), but maybe I have to now...
