Line-6 Amps:

I'm too decrepid to remember this. Can you repost the link to this? Pretty please... :fingersx:

Your wish is my suggestion!

To Robert’s comment earlier, the subject of the video specifically deals on dialing out too much of the mids. However, at around 6:01 he does make the observation that a guitar sound that is good in the mix may sound weak or thin on its own.

Let's see...

A guitar sound that is nasal on its own when under high gain, but sounds good when surrounded by drums and bass....?

Hmmmm....

You do know what you’re describing, Robert?

It rhymes with “Ratomaster”!!!

Close, but not at all the same. There is no "ice pick" effect that you get with Strat's at high volume. Our bassist is very mid-rangey - like Geezer - so my guitar provides a lot of the bottom end, and the trick is to get a huge bottom end and still have a cutting high end. It's really hard to explain.

To my ear, a Strat never sounds tolerable in a mix, but that's just personal preference.

Ha!

Just teasing with you!

You know I had to throw that out there!

I do know what you mean.

I’m just crazy enough, though, that once the engineer got me dialed into nasal territory, I would have at least tried the Strat!

Not all Strat pickups are ice picky.

I don't even have a Strat anymore...my kids each have one, but I don't use them. There's only 2 "Strat" pickups I ever liked - the DiMarzio Virtual Vintage Solo DP404 and the Duncan Quarter Pounder.

Yeah, no way I would drop that much on an amp...just unnecessary I think....

I just look at it as tool's and if I want to get the job done cost is not a factor. Example if my job is a mechanic will I use Walmart china made tool's day in and day out I think not.
Will the Snap-On truck replace the broken tool's at my shop once a week yes.
Now producers one of the smarter ones I met and wanted to produce me at that time in my life was Ted Templeman I had my life planed out but if it was ten years before I would have done it.

I think my opinion formed after playing through "Holy Grail" instruments and amps that did not - IMHO - give me anything my $800 Gibson Les Paul did, and not just rejection on cost alone.

In my old band the drummer had a Line-6 Spider IV head and matching cab. I can't remember if the cab was good or not because the head sounded so bad. I don't get along with modelling amps in general though

Come to think of it I think we did end up using my head with his cab and it sounded alright. So the cab was fine, it was just the head

My personal favorite Metal amp
