So, I've really been putting some thought into my character. Our theme is a post apocalyptic look, a bit in the 'Road Warrior' vein in terms of time period.
Our visionary bassist wants a rough and dusty look, which is totally foreign to me, as everything I have is always highly polished and well maintained. Our color theme will be grays and blacks.
In creating this charcater, I drew heavily from a Lemmy quote:
“If you're going to be a intercourse rock star go be one. People don't want to see the guy next door on stage; they want to see a being from another planet. You want to see somebody you'd never meet in ordinary life.”
― Lemmy Kilmister
So, I am working up two distinct looks - One that fits our vision for stagewear, and a more ornate, dapper style for photo ops and the like...
The first thing I wanted to revive was my concho hat. I remember seeing Mark Kendall wearing one, thought it looked cool and followed suit. That wasn't too tough to find.
Next was concealing not only my identity, but my age. I love how Ghost use masks, and I love Mick Thompson's mask, but finding the right one could be tough without copying somebody.
So, my thoughts went to some type of mask that could be concealed with a face bandana - like an old west bandit - that could be revealed mid performance, only to reveal a quasi-human identity...and leave an audience still wondering about who and WHAT you really are...
Kind of like this:
Only to reveal this:
And the more dapper, alter-ego can employ this instead:
Goggles are in the works that can be ordered with my Rx installed. There are lots of options available here.
This one can be easily fitted with an old pair of my Rx plexiglass lenses that I have left over from a few years ago:
Drawing from my love of "Out In The Fields," I found a couple of great military jackets from the 1880's that can give an interesting look.
This is just one of them:
For pants, ive started leaning towards the baggy 'riding pants' look from the WWII era that will work nicely with over the pants boots.
Looked at several high boot styles, some very steam/diesel punk in nature with all sorts of buckles and such, all the way to a rolled top renaissance style boot.
So, anyways, that's where the character concept came from...
