I'm not sure I should share this, but I am going to leave out names.
Last year, I played briefly with a 5 piece that did dance halls, VFW/Eagles/Elks etc. From the start, it was a difficult relationship. We made a three song demo and I was asked (yes, I was asked) to suggest a song that I felt comfortable singing lead on. Since we already did some country-esque stuff by the Eagles, I suggested "Lonesome Fugitive." We did a mix of Neil Young, Buffalo Springfield, Joe Cocker, Yardbirds, Beatles, some old Folk songs, and a few old country standards, so I thought this was a chance to showcase what we could do, especially with harmonies.
Although I am not a die hard country fan, I do remember fondly many of the songs I grew up listening too as a kid by Buck and Merle, who were friends of my parents on a personal level.
We cut the song at the rehearsal studio with drums/brushes, the female bass player singing backing vocals, the keyboardist also doing backing vocals, and bandleader on acoustic. I wasn't given a copy, and, in fact, he was almost secretive about it, but I snuck a CD into my guitar case so I could at least have this song.
I'm going to give it a proper mix, add some reverb and noise reduction, and post up when I feel like its presentable.
