Thinking about a new car

I was thinking about a 2019 Mustang....but then my wife invested $51,000 in the back yard renovation...Looks like I will be driving the '06 GT for a while longer...Funny, when I bought it on March 8, 2016, it had 52,000 miles on it. Last weekend it rolled up 200,000 miles....

The home is on a hillside and the backyard started sloping up right out the back door, all the way 25 feet up to the fence. We cut the hillside back 30 feet, move hundreds of tons of boulders and earth, built a structural retaining wall, poured 3,000 cu/ft of concrete, putting green turf, irrigation system, brought in mature, fruit bearing trees, lighting, new vinyl fencing and now an aluminum patio cover with a built in solar system and Tesla battery...Whew!!!!

Yeah I checked the ins & outs, Like I said it had a fresh B5 service before I got it. I also have an extended warranty on it. My deductible is $100. But it runs beautifully & shifts out nice and smooth as it should :)

I can relate. In 2008 we dozed the backyard, did a pool, BBQ island, 90 foot deck, hardscaping and solar panels. Told the wife, I could have got a $125K Corvette ZR1 instead of that. She was not the least bit interested.

And here I feel bad when I fill my shopping cart with groceries and after wandering through Walmart for 30 minutes of loading my cart, I realize I am about to spend too much and proceed to ponder what items I can put back on the shelf to bring my total bill to approximately $20 or less.

My wife is just the opposite. We can have low funds in the bank and I'll inform her of the status. She needed a new blouse to wear at our company anniversary party last week, so she bought 3 tops so she could decide which she liked best. :run:

My wife likes to go to the Fashion Institute of Design Store Merchandising in L.A. and buy some great fashions there at ridiculous prices. You should take her there, Grant... :)

Robert, even though I usually struggle to have 2 nickles to rub together and then calamities like water pump failures and helpers wrecking my car for me, usually tap me out for frugal spending on things such as food. Oh and Goodwill is my clothier of choice. Sad to say.

No shame my friend. I was homeless in 2012 for a while....
 
Oh, I wasn't complainin or cryin the blues too bad, brother Robert. My frugal nature would likely go about finances much the same pragmatic way as I do now and throughout my life as I struggled to make a living the hard way it seems. The one thing my girlfriend told me just today was how mentally rich I make myself every day with how many things I study and get into that I never did before and learn useful things for life that would cost many thousands or 10's of thousands to learn if one went to a place to formally learn all I do on a daily basis.

To increase knowledge like this increases my richness better than gobs of cash ever could.
 
For instance, my laptop has been NOT connecting via Wifi for a few months now, so I used my other one. A few days ago, I learned about the Wifi card and how easy it is to swap a good one in. I managed to scavenge one out of my predecessor to this laptop and it worked the first time.
Back in business and typin away again.

Oh, no...Man...I didn't take it that way at all...I didn't see you in any way but a good and honorable soul...Just wanted you to know that I know what it's like to live out of a backpack...I made me very grateful...
