New amp speaker day. Just installed a Creamback in the Marshall DSL 40C. The difference is night and day. Can't believe how much better the sound quality is. I A/B-ed it with the Les Paul. With the 70-80 I could never get that warm sound like I could through a Mesa. Now it sounds like classic R&R. Just need to break it in. The wife was visiting family in AZ, so I could crank it! The neighbors must have heard The Rover and An American Girl at concert levels :run:

But that’s like saying, but a 4 cyclinder in a corvette to save money. Build a good product and people will buy it.

Good amp...mine is been getting a workout!!!!!

I bought 2 of them and a Digitec RP12 floorboard thingy in 1997. It had a stero pan feature and I thought (in my inexperienced thought process) that it would be cool to be able pan between the 2 amps across stage. Setup it up at home and was cool. Never ever setup it anywhere else. Sold the second amp and the RP12 2 years later.

Now going to sell this one since I’ll never need an 80 watt amp and the new Marshall is just fine.

The DSL range is a price-point line of amps. Marshall still makes plenty of no-compromise amps in England but the offshore "attainable" models are going to have any number of cost-saving components included to keep them competitive.

I'm sure Marshall would be glad to take your money for a JVM or 1974X if you are willing to pony up for it :)

Is it quiet??? Like, when it is plugged into the wall and nothing is plugged into the input???? Does the chorus have a strange oscillating "swirling" kind of sound????
