THomas-Ginex Fret SYSTEM----

No, and I would not waste my time for a variety of reasons I will not waste my time enumerating since I am playing my new Jr., which does not need fretwork BTW

Well--- they have 10,000 kits sold :)

--I can say from experience----it works--

I had a recent aquasition that was --- less than stellar in the fret department-- nigh unplayable above the 14th fret---
acquired in a late night clandestine trade at a seedy Circle K on the North of Swampneckistan....in a light drizzle---

time to sample the guitar was VERY limited---we made our trade and parted ways---

ANd this came to pass to me.........
chocolate tele.jpg

IT sat for a couple weeks -- I tweak the TR -- to no avail.....I ignored it --- I determined I would do the frets -- or buy a new neck--
The Fret Dressing tool/system above was presented to me as a loaner from a fellow member-- and I too was skeptical --but -- as I had already resigned my self to a new neck (and actually had been online shopping for them----) I said---WTF I am gonna TRY IT -- if it ruins the4 frets--- bin the thing as a learning experience and get a new neck....

Well---- itr was --
1. Fast
2. Easy
3. TOTALLY FUNCTIONAL

is it the BEST fret dressing EVER (nope)
DID it improve a crappy almost impossible to play low end guitar YEP

IS IT a viable inexpensive solution for low end guitar fret work ----I think so--

WHO is going to pay a pro 100 or more to fress frets on an 80.00 guitar???? exactly---

TBTH if guitar and pawn SHOPS would invest in this system and train staff to use it--- they could sell more guitars ---period--

30 ish bucks -- it does what it says it does and nothing more --- IF you have very badly divited frets or sprouting frets its not a solution ---

ITS a wax on wax off fret DRESSING kit --- not a repair kit or a rebuild kit --- or a customize to your exact taste kit----

SO there ya go---

Ferengi Approved :)

I knew the "old guard" would poo poo it---partly why I wanted to report---its not poppycock-- balderdash or witch craft--
(NOTE its NOT the end all best fret job on the planet by any stretch)
but -- its cheap fast and for a low end guitar its better than nothing--

Would I use it on my 1971 Gibson Les Paul Recording????? HELL NO--
so there ya go-- an honest review of a functional 30.00 OPTIONAL-- cheap product.

Like I say --- it worked--- and it worked "well enough" for what it is---

IT also gives those who do not want to buy 1,500.00 worth of tools from stew mac and spend 3-5 months and several expensive FAILED attempts at learning fret work.. level/crown/polish/dressing --- the ability to "dabble" for cheap :)

PLEASE NOTE**** I do state this IS NOT a viable replacement for a true pro job on frets for a fine instrument*****

this is a great cheap way to make lesser expensive guitars (typically more PRONE to bad fret work) functional and playable--

IT will make a Squire or Epi or pawn shop Lotus-- play MUCH better and sound MUCH better---

thats all--- not a magic tone bean--- not a end all never need a luthier again tool----
