Ya'll jest

Love flat wounds (D'addario or Fender) -- I have 2 basses with "tapewounds" and two with ROUNDWOUNDS -- for the METAL-- Motorhead-- ATTACK type tunes-- the rest are flats-- the majority of my thumping is on flats.....love the flats -- especially on a fretless.......dear Lord its heaven to the fingers....Ive never played an upright bass but I assume its "similar" in feel.

Our bassist (currently) uses a black string that is coated with something. He cleans them periodically with denatured alcohol and keeps using them. He plays quite aggressively too.

We are tracking tonight so I will ask him for the brand name...

lol -- well -- this is interesting--

Col-- I commend your punctual string regimen--
I am not a pro nor do I play "out" my guitars rarely leave my office---rarely do I work up even a good sweat playing as it is more a relaxing escape FROM work not MORE WORK---a set of bass strings is typically changed (because buying used guitars there is no TELLING what SCHMUTZ and SPOOGE and GERMS exist on the things ) when purchased--- so buy guitar--- install new strings--- basically done for the life of the guitar which here can be 3 days--- 3 months-- 3 years......who knows---the Peavey T-40 currently has tape wound fenders applied about 4 years ago---- its not scheduled for flippage-- so -- we will see how many decades those last-----

Robert those might be DR black beauties
