As a lot of you may already know, I work for a large software company and I am the emergency after hours on call tech, 1 week on, 1 week off. The company is open from 6am to 6pm Monday thru Friday. From 6pm to 6am and all weekend long so I never know when my phone will ring. This is my off week and I am enjoying it while I can. The other person that I share this duty with is going on vacation for 1 month. During this time I will be covering his shifts as well as my own and my day job here at the headquarters. Starting Aug 6th all the way through Sept 7th, I will get no time off. A slave to my phone and computer.

Oh hell yes! Actually the guy that I'm filling in for covered me a couple months back when I went to Nicaragua. He had 3 weeks to deal with. I'm covering two of his shifts so I have a total of 5 weeks in a row, my shift, his shift, my shift, his shift, my shift and then he comes back. He will then owe me one week of covering my shift.

When I go back in time, I'm gonna trade my knowledge for young Grant's hair and trim figure. I'll come back young and fit, I'll also have the benefit of all that knowledge that I have added to young Grant's ever expanding brain.

I bet that is what you/they think, but I would be willing to bet it is not so. Many companies, and even payroll companies, make this mistake. I think there is a very good chance you are owed lot of back-pay - that is time and 1/2 for every hour over 40 per week and a premium payment for every day over 10 hours. BTW, this is Federal law, not NY
