Motörhead Thread:

Growing up, My buddy Pauli always wanted to be a rock star. After High school, he packed up his life in CT and moved to CA to chase his dream. He's had his share of struggles, and he's also had some shining moments.

Here's one of the great times...

On a related note, it's a bit of a shame that Fastway seems to have been all but forgotten. Love this band and saw them live a couple times when they first dropped (1980? Anyway, they slayed live). I mean, c'mon...a genuine supergroup in my mind: Fast Eddie and Pete Way in the same band?

Lemmy used to be in a band called Hawkwind that wrote a song called Motorhead. He got kicked out of the band I think in 1975 after he got caught with drugs at the Canadian border. The rest is history.

The SoCal forumites probably know that when Lemmy was alive he hung out at the Rainbow, would just sit at the bar playing the video poker machine. You could go in almost any afternoon and find him there, buy him a drink and he would chat you up for as long as you wanted. Coolest motherf$#@er that ever lived. A buddy of mine would want to go over and see him any time he was in town, and about 50% of the times we went in there Lem was just sitting there, playing the machine, drinking JD and smoking. Sometimes people would ask for an autograph or something and he was always more than happy to oblige and talk to fans.

That's true...Motorhead's tone improved greatly with Wurzel and Campbell's use of Humbuckers...

Seeing Motörhead live here in Bergen on March 15, 1997 is one of my best concert memories ever. Louder than hell, faster than f*** and as tight as a band can ever be. Not the classic lineup, but great nonetheless. I remember some moron threw a glass of beer at Lemmy. Man, If looks and swearing could kill, Lemmy would have killed him five times over.
