HNEVGTD

They have a switch --- in LOW imp mode they are -- damn near inaudible-- that is for use DIRECT into a sound board--
on the "Hi" setting they are akin to P90 ish-- but velvety smooth tamed mellow P90's --- they lack the RIP SNORT SNARL of say a Bare Knuckles War Pig or a Standard Gibbo P90-- remeber Les concept was PURE CLEAN tone--- the guitar is bigger (by almost 1/2" in width and HEAVY --- ) all was design for clean clear tone--- the lows are phenomenal the highs are completely adjustable through the 11 position switch and the tone knob -- with Bass adjustment as well --- its like having a mini amp control on board the guitar-- the sustain is literally damn near infinite

This sends CLEAN sound to the amp-- or board-- what you do with it there is all up to you.

Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder ;)

IT is ugly odd quirky heavy and --- AMAZING ;)

Cool! It's easy to see this was probably a lot closer to what Les Paul envisioned than the guitars we usually think of as Les Pauls. A truly versatile guitar. Kind of inevitable that it would be a commercial failure, though. Do you have any idea of how many were produced?

I've been reading up on this guitar, quite interesting & a damn fine acquisition eSGEe. The pickups are low impedance stacked humbuckers for "direct to console" recording. Les was experiencing sound degredation bouncing tracks with his "sound on sound" (new inovation) multi track recording & these pickups were the solution. An impedance matching transformer is switched in for high impedance output for use with an amplifier. Phase switch for the pickups, etc etc. It really is the "one guitar to rule them all". Seems you have a 1st gen which ran through to '77 when the 2nd gen came out. Cheers

my research show only 5,300 or so where ever produced -- and only 238 for the '71 Model Launch season-----
I have talked with Gibson directly-- they think this one was a EARLY model created in 1970 for the '71 Model year -- this was not just Les Design for the world it was what he played most often .

of course Les had several versions--- with additional switches -- or Bigsbys etc.

THese where built in the Kalamazoo Plant by the way

Gibson did a Reissue in --- 2013

and it was "similar" but the electronics where simler -- the pick ups where funy shaped humbuckers------it wasnt the same--- no pancake body----- not the real deal but hell they sell for MORE than the real deal----------- giuve me NORLIN babay!!!

Hey Adrian...

I got’s to know...

Are those pickups adjustable? I can’t tell. It obviously has no exposed, adjustable pole pieces. But, I’m not really seeing much in the way of typical pickup height adjustments, either.

Oh, I’m not suggesting you adjust them.

I just figured I’d ask for Ray!

Bigsby!!!

You know, Adrian Von Lesterheimer, Les Paul actually ~did~ have a Bigsby on his Recording model.

I’d never suggest you blemish the guitar by screwing directly into it.

But, if you wanna take Mr. Lester’s lead and if Vibramate makes a suitable kit...

...well...

Also can you help with bank account numbers and respective passwords. Haaa haaa.
Only joking, Gahr, I understand the Subaru Forester and his oldest child were included in the arrangement.

I have a Peavey Transtube Dirty Dog Pedal and a Holy Grail Reverb---- running into either a Marshall DSL 15 OR a Panama Conqueror------ what more does one need????

I really am kinda hurt right now . . . I cant even compose a snappy posting . . . . BBL
