Yay! Another Tonewood Video!

Each guitar is a night and day difference from the other one. The frequency is markedly different.

He has proven that wood does in fact contribute to tone.... :-)

Guitar 'C' to my ear is very lifeless and monaural sounding....

Guitar 'A' is very thin sounding...

Guitar 'B' would be my choice as best sounding...

I could only guess as to which guitar is which, so I will only say that I prefer the clean sound of guitar 'B' and I am evaluating only based on the clean tones...

The little Line 6 combo sounds TIGHT to -------
is it OBVIOUS I am praying for 5:00 to get here@!!??!?!?!?!?!!

I assume that he hasn't yet figured out how to summon the hidden tube screamer effect and the hidden noise gate from the Line 6 secret menu... :-)

A and C really sound poor in comparison to 'B' so if the wood is the only difference - not pots and caps - B sounded best clean...

Now...let me say this...I know many people who hear in only black and white, and to those folks, any one of these tones would have been acceptable.

So here's my question to everyone...which one sounds better, even if you can't tell which one is which????

Now here's something to consider...the Gibson L6S is a 24.75" scale instrument. What scale length are his guitars used in this video???

@smitty_p - don't listen @5:11

Ha!

Which means he didn’t truly bypass the capacitor. A simple schematic can show that maxing the pot doesn’t “bypass” the cap! Arguing the cap has little, if any, influence is one thing. But, it certainly isn’t “bypassed”.

But, there’s even more to consider. Notice his 2x4 has no controls. Aside from any discussion of caps at a max setting, the Gibson still has other circuitry involved. To make it more apples to apples, he should have bypassed all the controls on all the guitars.

Still, an entertaining set of videos.

His practice of using reclaimed wood is very commendable and intriguing. I’ve seen another video where he makes a fretboard from a piece of oak that came from an old sailing vessel.

I liked B better, too.

Unfortunately, as I said in my earlier post, he didn’t physically bypass all the circuitry in the other guitars, so there is more different between them than just the wood.

A pickup run straight to the amp will generally be brighter than one where control circuitry is involved.

But, I do like his videos. He seems like a fun guy and a conscientious sort. I like that.

Agreed...I hit him up on You Tube and extended an invite.

Tone caps, pot values and scale lengths should have been posted, IMHO...
