I picked up my epip les paul to day to box up my 3 guitars to move but they feel dirty
Why do they feel grimey for just siting out and nobody touchs them iam gonna clean them tomorrow with guitar polish and then box them up

Im gonna need a more precise description of "grimy" .........................dusty?..............funky? .................gunky? was there a grit to this grime?
Can you describe how this grime made you feel?
Was the grime with you all evening? Are yous sure---- did it say go to the store for a pack of smokes?

Book him Dano !~

I hope you're not stroking your ying yang over them. That'll make your guitars sticky for sure...etc., etc., etc.,...TMI. :D

Tazz,

When you describe a grimy feel, is it located just where the neck/headstock contacts the guitar stand?

The padding on some guitar stands actually chemically reacts with the nitro on the guitar and softens it where the stand and the guitar come into contact. "Grimy" would be a fair way to describe it.

The padding that you have to watch out for is the yellowish, surgical-rubber type of stuff.

I don't know if your Epi Les Paul uses nitro or poly, though.

Some basements are VERY humid and the moisture can make things feel slimy and can also cause things to mold.
Our basement in Ohio was like this and we had to run a dehumidifier all summer long. You would not believe
the amount of water that thing sucked out of the air everyday!
