These are the 3 guys, that have had the most influence on my playing,

Keith Richards ( Stones )
George Harrison ( Beatles )
Keith Scott ( Bryan Adams )

My response is the same as every other time this question gets asked. Whether in TTR or social media.

CSNY was my major influence in wanting to play guitar. May have also been why that first guitar was a 12 string. (David Crosby)
Glen Campbell was why my first good guitar was the Ovation I've had for over 50 years.

There is no way that I can limit mine to 3.

If I can begin at the beginning for me, I will likely start by going back to the years when I first really heard Rock music of any kind. It was circa 1972 when I was 8 years old, I first heard Deep Purple and Smoke on the Water. So, number 1 simply by time line and like my first guitar daddy, was Ritchie Blackmore. He would be followed by a host of players with their own puzzle piece in influencing me. In comparison, I will also post the top guys who's playing tops my list because of how they left their mark by the skill and catalog of songs/ albums that I have enjoyed over the past 50 years.

1. Blackmore
1. Alex Lifeson
2. Pete Townshend
3. Ted Nugent
4. David Gilmour
5. Jimmy Page
6. Jimi
7. Rik Emmet
8. Steve Howe
9. EVH
10. Michael Schenker

Too many more to limit it to 10.

Now that you say it, IBLIVE, Roy Clark and Buck Owens had their own space in my childhood and how I held them in awe for their playing stringed instruments likely when I was age 8+.

Probably my buddy Tommy from high school. I had the usual guitar heroes but none of them really inspired me to pick up a guitar until seeing my buddy play.

From there I suppose it would be the usual cadre of early metal guitarists whose songs I was trying to learn that influenced me most. (Smith/Murray, Tipton/Downing, Clark/Willis/Collen, etc)

Side note: I've checked this before. But the model number in 1974 for my Ovation is 1617-4. The model number for the Glen Campbell Signature model is 1627-4. The only difference in guitars is the signature on the Truss Rod Cover.... and most likely the price.

I understand this sentiment. In my later years, 2000-2026, I met and now have a friend who I consider to be one of the finest players I ever met.
