I have a Vintage 30 with a small tear in the cone.

Asyou can see it exteds to the edge through the surround. At least it isn't missing any material. I decided I would try to patch this up myself.

The first thing I did was apply a paper towel patch soaked with diluted white glue over the backside of the tear.

Next I applied the diluted glue directly to the front of the cone and let it dry.

I applied 3 coats and let it dry between coats.

I finished up with a thin coat of tubular bicycle tire cement with a toothpick directly on the tear in the surround. This stuff is like a rubbery contact cement that stays a little flexible. It is designed to glue the cotton tire base to an aluminum rim and keep you from dying. It had already been applied in the previous cone shot.

I'm still letting the cone dry out completely before I reinstall and test.

Anything you would do differently? I didn't see a cone repair thread and thought it would be good to have. Share your thoughts and experiences.
