When I was a lot younger and this highway was a way less busy, twisty, two laner I used to bomb up and down it on a Yamaha 650. It's still a nice ride with hundreds of motorcycles on the weekend. The police confiscate a few every weekend for excessive speeding.

CONFISCATE!?!?!?!? WTF? you dont just get a ticket, pay a fine, etc....... CONFISCATE........oh Lordy me I might NOT want t ride in Canuckistan ;)
If you are driving in a dangerous manner they confiscate them for a few days to a couple of weeks in addition to heavy fines. That highway is crazy. On a nice summer day you get a pack of ten to fifteen bikes racing at double the speed of the traffic. It's not all four lanes. There are some two lane stretches with blind corners and cliffs down to the ocean. The are several biker fatalities a year. I'd be happy with letting Darwin have his way but quite often they hit cars or cars go off the road trying to avoid the bikes in the wrong lane.

AH yes speed is one thing reckless driving and endangering others is a totally different animal.....
