Glad you guys are ok, and your neighbor was there to call the fire department and alert you.

Saw a transformer blow up across the street from my parents' house once. Nothing like the smell of a nasty electrical fire.

I seen a dozer skim an underground power line at a shopping center remod we where doing, only time I have ever seen dirt on fire, and the whiplash it created.
All traffic signals were out and the entire shopping center was out, as was across the street.
This was in Northridge CA in 2001
