Welcome, Brian Krashpad

That’s interesting. Back around 06/07 when I decided it was time for my first electric. Because I had an Ovation acoustic, I was checking out the Ovation sold bodies. Some unique shapes there for sure.
Breadwinners are very odd guitars in more ways than their shapes. Especially the original versions with active single coils. The controls work in a way that is at best counter-intuitive, and arguably downright perverse. Mine plays well and has a great low action, and I've managed to gig it. But it would be a bad choice for a first guitar.

I never pulled the plug on an Ocation solid body. Bought a used G400.

Here's the 2022 guitar shot:

Here's a collage of the same guitars:

I still have all of the above, but am in process of selling the white Epi LP Special. Have acquired a couple more.

This Chibson SG Junior:

And this Gibson Firebird Zero HH:

I did add a logo to the pickguard though:

That's all the electrics anyhow.

28 guitars, and only 19 amplifiers?

I had one of those back in the day.

It got replaced by an Agile Valkyrie with P-90s. Which I bought new for less than what I spent on the G400 used.

The Agile was eventually replaced with a humbucker-equipped Gibson.

And so it goes! ;) (y):dood:

My G400 turned into a "test mule." I only ever owned an acoustic from 1973 till I bought the G400 in 07. Learned a lot about electric guitar. How to set them up. Play them..... need a way lighter touch on an electric than an acoustic with .012 or .013 string sets. Over a period of a few years I have modded/changed everything on it with the exception of the wood and the plastic. Along the way, while it would have been nice to have a Genuine Gibson SG..... I don't really need one. This one gets the job done.

Ah yes, ol' Sonia!

That was my first really playable electric guitar. When I bought it it was slathered in house paint. You could actually see the brush strokes, haha. My late father stripped it for me and refinished it, I believe simply using lemon oil. It has a nice satin finish at this point. For the longest time it had no headstock markings, but 7 or 8 years back I finally got round to getting a replacement decal, which I think looks pretty authentic.

If only someone else could've come up with $67.60, the world might have been spared!

Haha, that's awesome. My first good electric was also a Duo. I got it in 1972 and it was a faded shell pink. Didn't look bad at all but teenaged me got the bright idea to spray paint it brown.

How was the trip over? Was your flight from ST delayed?

Good to see ya here. So much of the old guard is here now. Welcome.

I didn't even realize there had been any drama over there, tbh. I'm decades past caring what fights strangers on the internet pick with each other, or want to pick with me, haha. But I like to find new groups to interact with and learn from. The stuff I don't know could fill some very thick books. ;)
