AmBASSador of the F Clef
remember my Flying V bass? The fretless 5 string medium scale?
Although it is now in its 15th year, i am still trying to further improve it. Here a mod i made to the neck: increase its thickness under the thumb. Plays better, sounds better - yes, the B string!. Balace is mostly retained. I added a stripe of Machiche - the same piece of wood i used to reinforce the neck when i made it.
And now a better mount of the strap lock - not the one on the neck side:
This construction eliminates the force turning the bass face upward when it hangs on the strap. Made from an old piece of maple cut into three plies and glued together like plywood. Now the bass hangs on the strap a lot better than before. Just drilling the screw into the leg of the V is not possible because the body is hollow in that spot.
