Well, Guys and Gals...

In my 2 weeks away from the forum (I mean with my constant travel and remote destinations) I gained a new appreciation for life in general. I witnessed a strength and courage in my tiny wife (5'-4" 122) that I hadn't seen in my military and police career and it really made me see her differently.

She has been the one person in this life who accepted me 100%, with all my faults, hang-ups and strange ways. and she has been my constant companion since we met. I don't make friends easily, although I have a lot of musical contacts and acquaintances.

So, I wanted to take a moment this morning to tell each and every one of you that my online association with all of you is serious to me. Each avatar belies a real life. Real struggles, Real goals and achievements...real people. I see the real people when we chat about on here and each and every one of you is a valued musical friend.

Some of you I know quite well, like Chillipeppermaniac, Don O, Gahr, Session 5, ESsge, Bear R, Chas Fred, the dear departed Kevin Paul, Smitty, RVA and still many of you I do not yet know well enough. I enjoy and look forward to each and every post and every PM.

I am nobody. Just an average guitarist with good contacts and a solid reputation. My dependability far outweighs my technical ability.

I have been asked a time or two why I post so much musical stuff that is not what anyone would call stellar work, or even original for that matter. So, this morning, I wanted to address that area specifically.

When I post a musical project - even a demo of a worn-out cover - I do so in much the same way that one would ask for an outside opinion on how a certain tie looked with a particular shirt and jacket. It's not to celebrate any sort of perceived greatness. It's just to share with those who can appreciate music at it's most basic building blocks and solicit feedback on them.

I play constantly and record constantly, even silly covers, because it keeps my skill set and vocabulary vast and sharp.

I am most humbled and grateful for the kindness I have been shown herein. From a wireless system from Don O, to a custom switching pedal from Smitty, an A-B-Y box from Rob V, (all of which are used on a regular basis) to endless technical solicitations form Ivan, Thatbastarddon, Gball, Don P and others so much more intelligent than me, I wish to thank you all for allowing me to be a part of your musical world.

Here's wishing you all the very best today.... :-)

Nice to look outside the box.
Congrats on finding your soulmate; it is of the highest value and many never find their elusive match.

Certain events in life forces one to be retrospective and take stock of what's really important: our partners during this journey being at the top. My wife is my best friend. I enjoy spending every minute I can with her. I'm old enough to appreciate today, because tomorrow may not come for me. You never know.

Agreed. When I was praying for a wife, I asked for very specific things. First and foremost was a similar religious belief and a heart of gold with honesty as her primary canon of life. Secondly, Latin, dark skinned, black hair, 5-2"/5'4", 125 pounds, tattoos, slender....and my wife has all of these qualities inside and out. She is also my greatest and most trusted friend. I have only been separated form her 2 nights in 4 years and we were both miserable...

Your 5'4" wife is 4" taller than my wife. Well, actually she 4.5" taller than my wife but I get hit if don't say she's 5' tall - lol. My mom was like - finally, someone as short as me when she met her.

P.S. - I just plain suck at the social stuff - doesn't matter if it's in person or online. Not a whole lot of people ever get to know me well. Not that I'm not friendly - but, I do suffer from foot in mouth disease - lol...

I have Aspberger's syndrome so I am very quiet out of necessity. You seem like a cool dude to me....

Well said my friend. When life kicks you in the balls Iapartner who believes in you is the best thing there is. Welcome back! I too have been very quiet here lately but it is because of personal things happening, nothing to do with the forum. My time here has been limited lately but it has been one of my anchors in a rough sea. I usually check in a few times daily even if I'm not posting much. The other anchor is my wife who like yours understands and loves all my quirks and foibles.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Robert.

I'm not as insane as I may seem here at TTR. I work around kids and women all
day long, so when I get here, I like to kick back and have a shmoke and a pancake.

Thanks Rob and everyone else for sharing. I feel it’s what we’re all liking about TTR. A lot of us here migrated from the same forum. What we have here is pretty much like that one was when I joined it in 09.
