Traynor

This amp sounds incredible!! And SS to boot, I haven't heard any amp sound as good as this, not even Orange. I will scout out some pawn shops, see if i can find one of these beasts, also check some of my friends , maybe they can lead me to one.

I had a TS200 with matching 9x8 cab around 1981. Very cool setup, I do not recall it sounding stellar. Partly me, granted, but next amp was a 1983 white 2203 halfstack Marshall.
As for tube Traynors, I never bonded tonally with my YCS100 head but really like the YCV4050 Anniversary amp. Sounds very Marshally. Never tried a low end Traynor SS.

Sounds pretty good.
When you say ANY amp that sounded this good, do you mean any amp? Cause there are lots of Marshalls that will kill this tone, for example. Personal taste too.
Cool little amp though.

Back in my highschool garageband days, we had a friend who had an SS Traynor combo that kinda hung around during practices ( eventually leading to an uncomfortable conversation about explaining band practices vs freeform jam, unfortunately when it became EVERY practice day. But that's a story for another day lol)

If i remember correctly, it was 2x8 as well but not this model, rather a TRM40 Reverb Mate from the Traynor International Series. Had some neat features like 2 channels, 2x20w power section (40w overall), reverb and internal chorus. Wasnt a bad amp at all and would've been great as a bedroom/practice amp.

But at that time, we were using 50w Marshall 4x12 half stack amps with our bassist using a 300w Trace Elliot and 1x18 cab. So needless to say, our friend with the Traynor was muted against his will when he did plug in during our practices lol

The Traynor for being in the 15 watt class and being an SS amp sounds fantastic!! in this video, now i haven't heard it in person of course, but i know many see this fella here as an authority when it comes to amps. That being said I would still like to try it for myself. From listening to the tones the Traynor is putting out, I have not personally found those tones in any other SS amps i have played. I have played many Marshalls tube and SS, and have owned one SS that i bought when i first started out the MG15 FX. After i owned it for a while and starting to try out more and more amps at my local shop , the tones didn't appeal to me . After owning a Vox AC4C1 which i sold off and is a tube amp, didn't get the tones i was looking for. I started out with a Fender 10G SS wasn't bad for a starter and was a better fit for me than the Marshall 15, so the amps which i am totally satisfied with right now is My Orange 35RT SS which is my main amp, in turn replaced my Vox AC4C1 tube. My Vox Rhythm 5 SS, which replaced the Marshall 15FX SS. The Blackstar Fly 3 which is SS 3 watt amp and my NUX SS amp. And these 3 watt practice amps are amazing for their sizes! Still prefer the Blackstar tones slightly over the NUX, but is still a very good practice amp with nice features. I am no longer a tube guy its SS all the way for me. With the ease of not having to deal with tube issues and maintenance. Not having to deal with weight issues, is a bonus for me. And in most cases SS are cheaper, Its a win win for me.

Cool! Tone taste being very subjective of course. While I have had some success with SS or digital amps, I still prefer my tube models. It sounds pretty good in that video, yes. Not exactly my cup of tea but decent SS amp for sure.
Would be fun to find one.

Many years ago, I very nearly bought an all-tube Traynor at one of the local music stores. It was a used amp and was only going for few hundred dollars. I wish I could remember the model. I think it was just a single-channel amp, which is probably why I passed it up.

It seemed very nicely built, though. I wouldn’t hesitate to own one if the specs and sound were right.

Bullet proof stuff, the old ones.

I had forgotten all about that man lmao, we had a few people who tried to horn into the band though , it's was cool to jam but yeah every practice wasn't supposed to be a sit in , was a little distracting at times.
