Tracking A new Demo Tonight:

Very cool. Drums have a real 80s vibe to them. One of my favorite songs from Kiss; certainly their coolest after the breakup of the classic lineup. I dig the bass "drone" in the verses. As usual your recordings are very nice and tight.

Thank you, Gahr...I'm trying to train my 'producer's ear' and it's a challenge!!!!

The drums are 'enhanced' and made to seem larger by the use of reverb on the drum mix. Most of my guitar parts were recorded totally dry, except for the little solo fill, which got a good dose of reverb.

As I play the G-D-A progression, I back off the 'A' phrase totally and just choke it off after the 'D' to kind of punctuate this section of the song and make it seem more dramatic than it is.

Again, I used my trusty (lightweight) Blackstar ID-Core 100 watt for all the guitar tracks. Here are my settings left to right:

OD-2
Gain: 1/2
Bass: 9AM
MID: FULL
TREBLE: FULL
ISF: 1/2
EFFECTS: Totally Dry

The rhythm has a kind of 'clanky' effect to it with the gain dialed in this low, but I also put the rhythm farther out front in the mix, so it's more noticeable.

Paul Stanley's vocals are phenomenal on this track...
