I can tell you that oil temperatures are lower with synthetic oils and at a given viscosity, require less torque to drive the oil pump at the same delivery pressure. We verified all this through actual dyno testing. Also, on piston-type air compressors, they recommend a duty cycle of 70% with conventional oil and a 100% duty cycle with synthetic.
