In 1958 a newly hired electronic engineer, Jack Kilby was hired by Texas Instruments. Shortly after arriving the bulk of the staff and floor employees went on mass vacation, as was the company's habit. New hires with little or no tenure remained at work. In that time, Jack Kilby was basically alone to explore. And he did by working on an idea to improve the transistor. The result proved earth shaking as he invented the first integrated circuit and paved the way for the microchip. His efforts led to the world as we know it today. From the earliest 4 function handheld calculator to the internet, space programs, medical, financial, musical, and simply everything that moves, sounds, and works from an electronic signal is all due to what Jack Kilby did on his first week on the job in 1958.

THANKS JACK KILBY! !!

And for me, made stomp boxes interesting and replaced those smelly vacuum tubes with cool running, lightweight, and sonically accurate IC circuit amplifiers!

Thanks again Jack!
You were an incomparable genius! :D
