Always loved the song and the video for 'Nuthin But a Good Time' by Poison. It's just a song that I can identify with and its fun. Today, we had some time between projects and I asked my drummer colleague if he remembered the song. We had about 30 minutes to kill, so we opened up a channel and he kicked it off on drums with me playing along with him on guitar. After laying down the first guitar track, we rewound the tape (so to speak) and I played the bass parts. I then laid down a second guitar track (left and right panned at 60% and 40% respectively) and hit the wrong note on the last section, but left it in there anyways....LOL

So, the rhythm guitar parts are 'doubled' the old fashioned way and not electronically copied and reproduced (mirroring)

Finally, I opened a split stereo track and added two 'clean' (relatively anyways) guitar parts in the pre-chorus interlude just before the solo.

I did this on my 'Project 59' Les Paul through my Blackstar ID-Core 100, direct-out into the console. Reverb was added and the mix was EQ'd a little, but that's about it.

I talked to our singer tonight and I think I've talked him into singing on this one sometime this weekend.

Here's the basic tracks:

That album is a great "guilty pleasure" from the '80's. In about the mid-'90's, we'd play 'Look What The Cat Dragged In' as an encore, and it always killed, even though Poison was considered a joke by then. Just good fun. Keep em comin Rob.

You nailed it!!!!

I wasn't a super fan of C.C. Deville, but I always thought their music was just super fun and I LOVED the video of the kid who was about to get fired for daydreaming about being a Rock-N-Roll guy....

I have a whole poison 'story' from back in the day. Too much to get into here, but the bass player in my band went to high school with three of the members (basically everyone but C.C.) and one time many years ago when they were opening for Bon Jovi in Harrisburg PA (they are originally from Mechanicsburg, just across the river) we went up to hang out with them and some of the Bon Jovi guys and all I am gonna say is it got very real and was certainly a night to remember. Extraordinarily cool guys and a BIG shout out to Richie Sambora, who could not be a better partner for mischief.

Awesomeness!!!!!

Made a little more progress over the past couple of days in my spare time. The intro lead guitar fills are added, but I still need to perfect the main and outro solos. I left the solos off this version. I laid down 6 backing vocal tracks and all are panned randomly from 100% to 40% and staggered left-to-right to give it some depth.

Our singer will need to put lead vocals on this version. Now, I sang the lead vocals, but just to give him a scratch track so to speak, especially where to put the phrases at during the intro instrumental section.

All guitars on this version performed on Adrian's Chibson with (Epiphone HB8N - Gibson 498T Clone) through Blackstar ID-Core 100 Direct Out into DAW. All reverb and delay added during mixdown.

Here it is for you to enjoy....

I have to say jball Bon Jovi will never be the same without Ritchie, IMHO a very underrated guitar player.
