Surprise! new Gibson Natural V

Headache

Ambassador of all that is Heavy
Country flag
United-States
So I had to take my dad to the VA hospital for a procedure, he lived through it ...
During some of the waiting room hours, I decided to drive a couple blocks to Bizarre Guitar and have a look-see.
Big mistake!..... Huge!

I spotted her immediately, she was beautiful..
I plugged her in and she was near perfect in every way

My credit card took the brunt of the pain... But she's a keeper for sure

2019 Gibson V in ( discontinued ) natural.
The neck is a skosh thicker than my faded V but still extremely comfortable.
I yanked the Burstbucker 3 out of the bridge and stuck a blackened Black Winter in it. Huge improvement! It lived there for a few weeks, but tonight I swapped in a regular TB-6 Distortion and it's perfect now.

Here's the insta post from bizarre guitar

And my beloved sitting at home.

Also, she's a match for my Natural Explorer so ... She had to come home with me..

I installed straploks and beefy slinkys, filed the nut just a touch.. switched the knobs out.

And here she is with her V friends.

What year model is that blue Dean V ?

What year model is that blue Dean V ?

Back in the old days when the Dean Forum was alive and well, we designed a group build guitar and had (overseas) custom shop build it. We called it the Blue Water V. I'd have to really research what year that was.... 04? Maybe? Someone else on this forum has one too.
Mine is #9 of 19 made.
I'm convinced this is the build that inspires the select series made currently.

Sweet guitar !

Always wondered why all the blue Dean MLs have Kahler tremolos instead of Floyd Roses.

Almost like it was some sort of Dean manufacturing rule, or code.

Awesome score! Vvvertigo !

Well, I just got out of the garage where I swapped the neck pickup out.
I installed an Alt-8 in the neck so the aesthetic is better. I won't ever use the neck pickup, never do.

I did flip the toggle switch to make sure the pickup works. It sounded dark and mean.
Test complete. Now the neck pickup is dead to me.

I believe it was 2012, my “Blue Water” is #7.

Ok. Well I have some sort of OCD whereas I have to keep tinkering with my guitars until they are perfect..... I guess

Since purchase I have swapped both pickups (the bridge twice!) landed on a Distortion in the bridge and an Alt-8 in the neck. I pulled the plate off again just now and painted it. So now it's a pair for my natural explorer.

I think it's finally done.
