Strat Strings Contacting Bridge Plate:

Just noticed that some of my Stratocaster strings are contacting the bridge plate as they angle up to the saddles. This only occurs on the saddles that are moved towards the nut for intonation purposes.

I'm not breaking strings, but I don't particularly care for the "double bends" in those strings.

Is this common???

Yes, it happens.
As long as you aren't breaking strings it isn't a problem. Rounding off the edges of the hole in the plate can help.
