Rather than post a lot about my recent discussion with this fellow, I think his video will be enlightening. I have to tried his method yet, but it's indeed impressive:
I played around with that last night. Setting the bridge to give a 'minor 3rd' on the 'G' when pulled up - that's B-flat - has the bridge raised at an upward angle at the rear. I haven't tested it yet....
It's actually a little more raised than this file photo I found online:
Additionally, intonation is drastically affected by this setting - when the guitar is intonated on a decked bridge.
