Description

Snow changing to rain today.

Hazard:
Local snowfall amounts up to 5 cm possible.
Reduced visibility in heavy snow.
Rainfall amounts of 20 to 30 mm.
Ponding in low-lying areas.

Timing:
This morning through this evening.

Discussion:
Snow associated with a storm system is expected to move into portions of southern Ontario today. Local snowfall amounts of up to 5 cm are possible before the changeover to rain. 20 to 30 mm of rain is likely before tapering off tonight. Rainfall warnings may be issued as the event draws nearer.

Winter travel conditions are possible once the snow arrives. At this point, it appears that the heaviest snow may impact the morning commute.

For information concerning flooding, please consult your local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry office. Visit Ontario.ca/floods for the latest details.

Our forecast yesterday was 2-3" of snow overnight with potential for another 5-6" this afternoon. Did not snow overnight. Some drizzle. It's above freezing so drizzle isn't causing problems. Since 7:00 AM we've been getting a combo of light rain/snow. But at this point, Mother Nature is going to have to get busy if we're to see the 6-8 predicted inches. Now a few counties west of us. Guess it's a different story. My counties east border is Lake Michigan. Got a feeling the warmer than air temperature water is moderating the inland temperatures keeping us above freezing. Hence the rain so far rather than snow. I'll take it.

Edit: I guess Friday is supposed to blow in something. And with much colder weather then, any precip will be snow. I think the Goo_man is send his temps our direction because by weekend we're supposed to see the below 0F temps for lows.

WOW!! Thats a lot of snow Johnny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't seen snow like that, since I lived in the Northern part of Ontario..

Snow plow went by our house around 7:30 this morning. Blade down. What's odd. No snow on any hard surfaces. Street, drive, sidewalk, patio. He was obviously laying down some salt. Especially in the intersection. But certainly didn't need the plow down.

There's usually more snow here by now. Mild weather till now.
Same here. Mild temps. Still a lot of winter to go. Recently, February has become the month that likes to get nasty. Used to be December into January.

I think we are up to 690 day without having more than an inch of snow fall. We also didnt get a really cold snap this season either.

We had literally NONE until last week. In the middle of the Canadian Prairies. Unheard of.

Until today.

Had enough to shovel a bit o fluff yesterday. We had no winter to speak of but you KNOW what will happen.
From 6 to 8 inches today/tonight and then temps dropping to minus 30s....

Such a mild first half but....

I was out a little bit ago. Sure looked like light snow falling but sure sounded like rain hitting the drive.

Got about 6"-7" or really wet, heavy snow over the weekend just north of Boston. Tonight, we're supposed to get 1"-3" of rain and temperatures in the low 50s by morning. It will hang in the mid 40s to mid 50s for a week or so. We'll probably get clobbered in February. That's what usually happens.

While some area west of me got socked with multiple inches of snow along with wind making for near blizzard conditions. The predicted 6-8” for where I live turned into a very sloppy wet snow. We could still see grass in the yard. When I shoveled the drive I pushed about a 1/2” of water off, the slop was so wet. Reason: Temperature never dipped below freezing here.

Another blast coming tomorrow. Again predictions of end of the world snow fall. Will let you know Saturday.

With that in mind….. enjoy.
