Stepping Stones

The thread about only having one amp made me think about why I have the amps I have, and also made me remember all the amps that I don't have anymore.
So, I made a list.
Most of these were found for what I thought was a great deal, and I later sold them for about what I paid so I could get something different.
Usually upgraded to something a little bigger, or smaller, or just better suited for the tones I go for.
Kinda like stepping stones that lead me to what I have now.

Marshall 6101 & 6912
Marshall JCM600 (head mod)
Marshall 3210 (x2)
Marshall 3203 w/ 1965A & B
Marshall JTM30
Marshall DSL20HR & 2 MX112
Marshall Class5H
Marshall 5002 Lead20
Marshall Code 100H & 212
Marshall Code50 (X2 gutted for cabs)
Marshall Code25
Marshall G50RCD
Marshall AVT100C (also gutted for the cab)
Marshall G15MS Lead15 micro-stack
Marshall MG15HCFX micro-stack
Katana 100H & 212
Jet City JCA20HV
Egnater Rebel 20H
Egnater Tweaker 15H
Crate GX10
Edit: Just remembered the DSL1HR

Only one I think I want back is the chassis only JCM600 that I got dirt cheap and fixed by resoldering 1 wire.

I hated the 200w Celestion Gold (EV12ML). Too harsh with that amp. I use a T75 in combo now
Exactly - those speakers made the amp seem too cold and sterile (IMO).
I'm also into more of a vintage tone than modern high gain.
Probably would have been closer to my style with some H75 creambacks.
I just wound up liking other amps better and I used it less and less.

My amp list is pretty easy as I don't go through a lot. Past amplifiers:

Peavey Rage 158
Peavey Bandit 112
Peavey Rockmaster with Mosvalve power amp
Peavey Tubefex with Mosvalve (I miss this preamp the most)
Peavey Supreme
Marshall MG250
Vox VT40
Custom Koupe 36'
Marshall DSL JCM2000
Crate BV120
Peavey 6505mh
Diamond F4
Marshall JMD
Randall 667

A lot more than I expected tbh. Oof.

Can't play this game. I've only ever had two. Still have both.

Early 70's Fender VibroChamp - Actually came with my bride when we got married.
1974 Traynor YGM3 bought new.
I should have mentioned.... I bought the Traynor same day I bought my acoustic/electric Ovation. (1974) Didn't get my first electric guitar till 07 or 09..... I seem to have a memory issue on that one.

Absolutely can relate to that. I am down to 3 guitar amps cause i kept all the amps around to use & dial in other amps. Doing it now with bass amps. Amazing side by side how revealing & similar amps can be tone wise. This is how you find "YOUR" sound.

now throw speakers into the mix.... sill kept all my cabs & dif speakers-can flavor those 3 keeper amps anyway needed. But if i didn't back off guitar would never have just 3 amps.

Fender Bassman Blackface, at 16 years old. I miss that one the most.
Crate something or other. Solid State.
Gutted and turned in to a 112 cab. Still have it.

Egnater Tweaker 15w

Marshall DSL 40c
Marshall JCM 2000 100w
Marshall 2205 / 50w

Line 6 FRFR power cable plus.
Most versatile and silent Line 6 HX Stomp
May be others I forgot.

Lots of things have come and gone over the years. But some of the highlights were.
-Peavy Decade 10
-Sunn Beta Lead 1x12 combo
-Tom Scholls rockman headphone amp.
-SF Deluxe Reverb
-Randall SS head
-Fender 100B
-Ampeg SS 70
As you can see the only amp on there worth a damn was the SFDR which I probably just about gave away because it was not what a respectable metal dude would own .
Then there was some amps that were just fine but no longer here.
- Blues Jr
-AC 15
-Hot Rod Deluxe
Any how that lead me to the pile of stuff I have now.
-The Twin
-SF champ
-5E3 clone
-Ori20C
-Brown face D-Luxe clone
-Budda SD30
-East Club 18
And I am 99% of the time on the East Club 18, which just kicks all kinds of ass.

2 of my 3 keepers are on your list..the V22 & 900 900 b.jpg

Oh boy, I'll give it a shot and try to keep them in order first to last.

-Peavey 10 or 15 watt practice amp, couldn't tell you what it was.
-Marshall Micro Stack. Might have been a lead 12, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't, it had cabs with 8" speakers and sounded like crap.
-Some weird combo in a fiberglass shell that was also complete crap. An ad in Guitar world got me good on that one.
-Peavey Bandit Teal Stripe. Didn't know what I had at the time and sold it.

Then I quit playing for about 10 years (or more) and when I got back into I discovered these gear forums and here we go...

-Peavey Bandit Silver stripe. (thought I'd start there since I knew it)
-Peavey Classic 50, my first Tube amp
-Egnator Rebel 20
-Marshall Class 5 (Black)
-Marshall Class 5 (white)
-Marshall DSL40

I think that's it, that's my amp journey that led up to the amps I own now...

-Cameron/Jose HG Plexi (my build)
-GR-Harvard
-GR-Majestic
-Marshall SC20 (1st a combo that I sold and turned into a head and cab set up)
