Speaker Cab Wiring - ....again

Got a question. I have my Randal with the (2) 12" speakers and a single 15". It currently has (3) 16 ohm speakers all in parallel for a combined impedance of around 6ohms. Recommended to connect to a head on the 8 ohm tap.

If I were to rewire the cabinet with (2) 16 ohm 12" speakers in parallel and then series those with a 15" 8 ohm speaker, the total impedance would be a more common 16 ohm. However, I'm not sure how the power distribution would be perceived by the speakers in the cab.

Anyone try to run this type of wiring and know whether or not it should or should not be done?

My calculations show that the 8 ohm single speaker would use 50w of a 100w circuit while the (2) in parallel would only be using 25w.

I think your calculations are correct. You will need at least 25W power ratling 16 ohms each 12" speaker and 50W power ratling 8 ohms 15" speaker. But it is advisable use twice the power in the speakers than the amplifier has. Example amp 100W speakers 200W.
