Long story short, there've been big layoffs and office closings recently. If you have a lot of stuff on Soundcloud, you may want to make sure you have backups. These measures might be in order to close a new round of funding that might pull Soundcloud through, but the might not.

Yeah, I've read that they are starting to have issues, too. I wouldn't be surprised if they have to start charging. However, I hope they have the good sense to learn from Photobucket's faux pas and do things in a more measured manner.
 
Photo bucket is still around and will stay around.
The smartphonefacebook people will pay the toll.
Sound cloud will do the same thing and the
gottahaveits will cough up the money.

If it was up to me there wouldn't even
be an answering machine in my house.

People used to use Soundcloud like Bandcamp before Bandcamp came along. For getting finished music pieces out there Bandcamp works better. Soundcloud is just people doing demos of guitar pickups etc now
