I have a torn ligament and a shoulder impingement. Surgery will be required, but I think I am going to schedule after the Holidays.

I am waiting for my referral to be approved and then I have to consult with a surgeon etc. etc.

I may be out of work for up to a month and unfortunately I don't have that much sick leave. Anything over two weeks and I'm on
leave without pay.

Gear will be going up for sale very soon. Amps, Guitars and whatever else I scrounge up...

Stay Tuned!

Bummer Chris  Do I need to get my gear outta there ASAP?

No quite yet, but maybe the 1st of the year due to space running out. I have 20 pallets of PC's in the garage!

Damn dude that SUCKS! On several levels--
PLease keep us in the loop---

I will gladly Trade you a JOHAN APPROVED Peavey Bandit today For a Kemper on Wed. ;)

If you recall...I have a 2x12 Peavey Bandit my friend. And I really hope the Kemper can stay. It will be one of the last things out the door!

Chris,

Do you have an employee union or some type of employee fraternity??? Many times, they can deal out additional sick time beyond your allotted hours...H.R. 3028 (112th Congress) proposed expanded voluntary leave donation programs to include the donation of sick leave to federal employees experiencing a medical emergency.

A federal agency may, but is not required to, offer advanced sick leave to an employee for personal or family medical reasons.

240 Hours (30 Days) for:

  • Incapacitation due to physical or mental illness, injury, pregnancy, or childbirth
  • Serious health condition
  • Exposure to a communicable disease that would "jeopardize the health of others" as determined by health care providers or health authorities
  • Activities related to child adoption
  • Care of an ill child
  • Care of a servicemember with a serious injury or illness
  • Care of a family member with a serious health condition

104 hours (13 days)

  • Medical, dental, or optical examination or treatment (self or family member)
  • Care of a family member with physical or mental injury or illness
  • Arrangements related to death or funeral of a family member

Notes: A medical emergency is defined as "a medical condition of either the employee or the employee's family member that is likely to require the employee to be absent from duty for a prolonged period and to result in a substantial loss of income because of the employee's lack of available paid leave." See 5 C.F.R. §630.902 and 5 C.F.R. §630.1002.

a. While no limitation exists on the number of leave hours that can be received, federal regulations limit the amount of leave that can be donated to no more than one-half of the amount of leave the donating employee would accrue in the year the donation is made. See 5 C.F.R. §630.908.

We do have the voluntary leave thing, but most won't give up their leave.

I may also file a CA1 On the Job Injury Report because even though I didn't file when this happened it was work related and everyone here knows it.

I also may be able to come back on light duty after two weeks off. I still have to talk to an actual surgeon and not just my Primary Care doctor...

Sign up for FMLA as soon as possible. Your employer has to give you time to get healthy, and FMLA will cover you to keep your job if you return work, but find there are other issues related to the surgery that need to be addressed.

When I had my cancer surgery, I signed up for it. After my vacation and personal days were used up (12 days), 60% of my pay kicked in after day 30. I only needed it for a couple of weeks, but the safety net was there if my doctor found issues that would send me back under the knife.

Not sure how that works when you are employed by the Feds...I'll look into it.
